what is natal teeth and when to remove it ?

some times newborn babies may  smile  at you with a tooth at birth. this is called as PRENATAL TEETH /NATAL TEETH

natal teeth are usually lower incisor.

there are two types of natal teeth and we have to differentiate for proper management

I.PREDECIDUOUS TEETH: these are super numery teeth .that means extra teeth apart from the hidden milk teeth. these are loose and the roots are absent.we have to remove it otherwise it may be aspirated while feeding. it occurs in 1 in 4000 births

II.TRUE DECIDUOUS TEETH:  these teeth are true teeth that erupt early.they occur in  <1 in 2000 births.they should not be extracted.
